Christopher Booth, MD

Christopher is a Medical Oncologist and Health Services Researcher at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is a Professor of Oncology and Public Health Sciences and holds the Canada Research Chair in Population Cancer Care. Dr. Booth studied medicine at Queen’s University. He did postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Toronto followed by a research fellowship with the Canadian Cancer Trials Group. In his clinical practice he provides care to patients with gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Booth’s research program explores access, quality, and value of cancer care in Canada and globally. In 2016 Dr. Booth spent a sabbatical as a visiting scientist at the Regional Cancer Centre in Trivandrum, India. He is an Advisor (Health Services Research) to the National Cancer Grid of India, an Honorary Consultant at Pallium India, and a member of the WHO Essential Medicine List Cancer Working Group.  As a junior investigator he was awarded an inaugural Cancer Care Ontario Chair in Health Services Research. In 2021 Dr. Booth became Director of the Division of Cancer Care and Epidemiology within Queen’s Cancer Research Institute. Dr. Booth has published 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts in major journals including Nature, JAMA, BMJ, Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, JAMA Oncology, and JAMA Internal Medicine. He has served as research supervisor for >25 trainees.
