Piers Mahon, PhD

Dr Piers Mahon is Digital Research Advisor to Action for ME, working at the intersection of clinical research, data infrastructure, and international collaboration. He also set-up the DIGICORE consortia over 12 European countries to fully automate precision oncology research, and has built 7 digital networks with over $100M of follow-on investment across the US and EU. Piers will explain how the atomCAT approach could be an affordable way to catalyse research consortia for any neglected disease. The theory of change is that an initial investment in a data science PhD and clinical audit provides the track record, data and collaborations for such a consortia to then seek more competitive funding. For Action For ME, he has completed initial technical feasibility for a clinical audit in paediatric ME/CFS and Long Covid, and will share how Action For ME intend to work with their clinical communities to potentially catalyse a transformative global research platform in these neglected diseases.
